Balancing Act
Does anyone else had a hard time figuring out what's good and what's bad. I know I can't be the only one who gets so confused. We are constantly bombarded with tons of information throughout social media and anything we want to know is basically at our fingertips. Just click of a button and you have your answer.
I will be the first to admit, my common sense is lacking sometimes. I think that is why God paired Matt and I together because he knew I was weak in that area and that he would help make up for my deficiencies. I feel like I am somewhat book smart, having the ability to take something I've read and understand it for the most part. However, sometimes I take it to the extreme and take everything I read on the Internet at face value and take it for truth.
I can only laugh at all the things I have told Matt I thought I might have or the girls might have and he just looked at me like, "Really, Tori? And you were on the honor roll!"
Let me give you an example:
I explain my concerns and my diagnosis to Matt. His response..."Tori she has been alive for three months, her head is basically the biggest thing on her body, you would have trouble holding yours up too!"
Needless to say, Matt has many head shaking moments at our house, but he loves me anyways.
I like to read and learn new things so I am constantly reading articles and books. Now, I'm trying really hard to take everything that I read into context and understand where the source is coming from and using some of that common sense that I know is in me, but sometimes gets a little lost, to make informed decisions about my life and understand just because I read it doesn't make it truth.
One thing I've learned from my Dad is that life is about balance and moderation. Too much of anything is usually a bad thing. Something that starts off as good can become harmful because when used in excess it doesn't fulfill it's intended purpose. Food is good but when you eat too much if causes your body to react negatively. Exercise is good, but taking it to the extreme can cause harmful physical effects. But if you use what the Bible talks about as discernment, when approaching different situations, you will be able to find a healthy balance for your life. Discernment is the ability to judge well.
I read this quote the other day and well this is my life in a nutshell. It said, "It's okay to take a step back and admit you are being ridiculous." Friends, don't be like me. Don't believe everything you read. Life is a balancing act. Find the happy medium and seek God. He will give you his knowledge and discernment for things in your life that aren't always black and white.
"They are a nation without sense, there is no discernment in them." Deuteronomy 32:28
With love,
Tori

Let me give you an example:
Olly was a couple months old and her head was tilting to the side a little more than I thought it should, so I googled head tilt in 3-4 months old. Yep, my baby had torticollis. (if you don't know what that it is, it basically means stiff neck and that your baby can only turn their head to one side)
Needless to say, Matt has many head shaking moments at our house, but he loves me anyways.
