A Letter to My Daughters

Dear Daughters,

A letter to you on this day in May. An unusual past two months we have had to say the least. I've been yearning to share with you all the things I've learned in this short amount of time. It's been a time of reflection, growth, and hardship for all in one way or another.  My hope is to give you a glimpse into the most precious things that have been on the forefront of my mind these days lest I forget after the dust settles and our normal returns.

I've had the time to study your little faces and realize just how much they've changed right under my very nose. Whether it is the sight of speckles on Isla's nose and cheeks from days spent in the sun; or the oh so perfectly spaced teeth in Olly's Cheshire Cat grin; Or the squint of Emry's lemon shaped eyes when her smile is so big it reaches her ears; I'm soaking it all up up as much as I can because to be honest, tomorrow has become today without me realizing it. How often I take the ordinary for granted.

To My Sweet Emry Girl,

My lover and carer of all things. You put your heart and soul into everyone and everything you meet.

Love should've been your middle name. You are my hopeless romantic that dreams of the day your prince will come and sweep you off your feet.

My one whose emotions are so true and pure everyone can't help but feel exactly what you are feeling. You shed tears at the sad parts of movies, you feel hurt deep down in your soul when life throws curveballs your way, and you risk all you have to show your love to others, never thinking about getting something in return.

Oh my Emry girl, how you've taught me so much about life, love, and keeping that fire stirred up in my soul.

How wonderful life is with you in the world.

 To my charismatic Isla girl,

You have a way with words and a sense of humor that extends well beyond your years. Such a smart and analytical mind you have. Constantly doing your best to understand this world that we live in.

Taking no for an answer is not the way you roll. Headstrong and confident, traits of inheritance from your father no doubt, and to be perfectly honest, ones that I'm envious of.

A dancer, mover, shaker. Isla you express yourself best through music. One turn of the radio dial and I know exactly how the beat is making you feel. How I love to watch it awaken your soul.

Isla you guard your heart and mind very carefully. A thorough inspection of character is made before you decide who is worthy of your time, emotions and affection.

But once your decision is made, you are loyal for life; no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Thank you for choosing me; it's a honor I will carry with me forever.  ❤

To my Ollywood,

There is none like you. No backing down, no giving up.

I do believe you will be our adventurer. The outdoors is your happy place and hanging with the big girls is how you thrive.

When you decide to do something, there is no glancing back over your shoulder. Full speed ahead. Olly doesn't ask, Olly just does.

In the short time you've been here, you've taught me to stop planning and start living. Everyday is a new opportunity to explore, enjoy, and you are making the most of it my darling.

Your sweet charm brightens up any room you step foot in and it's a pleasure to be the one you call Ma.

As long as I'm living my baby you'll be. ðŸ’•

To all my girls, I will do my best to teach you everything I know about loving life, loving people, and loving Jesus.

With love,
Mama
